With the pandemic accelerating digital transformation in education, schools’ demand for cloud solutions has grown rapidly. In emergencies, staff often had to return to school after hours to address issues, adding to their workload and disrupting teaching.<\/p>\n

    During pandemic-induced closures, IT staff had to remotely solve tech issues for teachers and configure student devices, resulting in an unsustainable workload<\/p>\n<\/div><\/li>

    The cost of shifting on-prem servers to cloud platforms was once prohibitively high, deterring many schools from adopting the technology<\/p>\n<\/div><\/li><\/ul>

    Speedy Group addresses these challenges by tailoring cloud platforms for local schools based on their needs and budget. Their 24\/7 CloudOps Center provides centralized IT management and real-time issue detection, greatly reducing the burden on school staff and allowing them to focus on education.<\/p>\n

    \u201cThe idea is to detect and resolve network issues before schools even notice them,\u201d says Johnny Luk.
    \nWhere once IT problems required in-person fixes, now 80\u201390% of issues can be resolved remotely via the cloud. Only 10\u201320% of cases still require on-site intervention.<\/p>\n

    Many schools operate their own server rooms, which consume significant energy due to 24\/7 cooling needs. Often, these rooms house outdated equipment with low energy efficiency and performance.<\/p>\n<\/div>

    50% Higher Efficiency Than On-Site Server Rooms<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

    To address the issues of high energy consumption and low performance in traditional school server rooms, Speedy Group has introduced a centralized cloud platform. This solution allows schools to migrate their data to the cloud, improving convenience and operational efficiency while significantly reducing carbon emissions through centralized management.<\/p>\n

    According to the company, centralized cloud infrastructure can:
    \n– Cut energy consumption by 50%
    \n– Deliver 50% higher performance than traditional on-site server rooms
    \n– Eliminate the need for schools to maintain their own server rooms
    \n– Reduce electronic waste<\/p>\n

    Kelvin Woo, Director of Speedy Group, shared that the group has invested a seven-figure sum (HKD) in the development of its cloud platform and expects that figure to rise to eight digits. Speedy Group aims for full adoption across all Hong Kong schools within the next five years and plans to expand the service to SMEs to help reduce their operational costs as well. With rising demand for cloud services in education, approximately 400 primary and secondary schools in Hong Kong have already adopted Speedy Group\u2019s cloud management service. Among them, 90% have fully migrated their data to the Speedy cloud platform.<\/p>\n<\/div>
